WHY eleven44?

Life is made up of a continuous sequence of symbols that inform our psyche. Numbers are powerful symbols and eleven44 is a representation of this power.  As master numbers in numerology, eleven and forty four both hold highly charged possibilities in their meanings.  Eleven is the number of the mystic - it is the link to a fully dynamic, clear and open channel to the divine.  It is the access to an unhindered imagination; a flash of insight, an illumination.  Forty four is the physical manifestation of visions and dreams - the precise focusing of energy through action to create form.

DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE

We seek to be as progressive as possible in our approach to all aspects of design and manufacture.  This is why we're completely sweatshop-free.  By directly overseeing our own operations and knowing the faces of our workers, it's impossible for us to tolerate anything that might put their well being in danger. These kinds of alarming trends arise when companies take advantage of workers who possess no leverage, forcing them to work in sub-standard conditions without the necessary training or the ability to complain to management.   For us "sweatshop free" is not about criticizing other business models; it is about attempting something new. It comes down to this - knowing who makes our garments and providing them the opportunity to make a fair wage in a clean and comfortable environment.

RECYCLING AND INNOVATIVE REUSE

We strive to be as efficient as possible, creating as little waste as we can. Scrap fabric is turned into new garments and accessories when possible or donated to locals who use them for cleaning, crafts or their own manufacturing. 


SOURCING

We are always looking for more ecologically sound materials and services. Our hang tags are printed on 100% post-consumer recycled paper. eleven44 is  incorporating sustainable fabrics such as organic cotton, bamboo and tencel into our product line. We are always looking into more recycled blends to integrate into our main line.
